Our Statement of FAITH
Harvest Covenant Biblical Worldview Statement
While each family is entitled to their own beliefs, Harvest Covenant staff and teachers will instruct and adhere to the below statements and expect students and parents to comply.
The Apostles' Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
1) The Bible
All scripture is God-breathed and the entirety of the Bible was written by men of God who were instructed by the Holy Spirit. All sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are without error, authoritative in matters for Christian living, and inerrant in its original manuscripts.
2) God
The true and living God exists in three persons also known as The Holy Trinity. The three persons are: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and all exist having the same divine nature and attributes.
3) Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who left heaven to become human while remaining fully God, was born of a virgin and lived the perfect, sinless life mankind could not. By dying and rising again, he redeems humanity from the curse of sin and is the promised Messiah and the Savior of the world. He then ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.
4) Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully God and the Helper sent by Jesus to convict humanity of its sin and guilt. He indwells all believers, teaches and guides them in truth, and intercedes on their behalf.
5) Humanity
Human life begins at conception, is created in the image of God, and was originally made holy and blameless before the Fall. God created two distinct sexes at the beginning of creation; male and female who are distinct biologically, but of equal value and dignity. Our purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy a deep, personal fellowship with Him forever. When the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God, sin entered the world sparing not a single person from having a sinful nature. Sin separates us from God and requires a need for a Savior to restore humanity to right relationship with God.
6) Salvation
God made a way for sinful humanity to be redeemed from their sins and reconciled to Himself. Everyone who confesses their sin and believes in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and atonement is restored to a right relationship with God and is given a promise of eternal life with Him. Jesus’s death paid the price once and for all of mankind and his gift is free, unable to be earned by human merit or works of any kind.
7) Sanctification
All those who confess their sin have been saved from its penalty of death and are made a new creations in Christ. It is an ongoing process by which the Holy Spirit guides and instructs believers in truth.
8) Marriage and Family
God is the author of marriage as seen in the book of Genesis; it is to be between one man and one woman. Human sexuality is a good gift given by God to be enjoyed in the context of a monogamous marriage of one man and one woman; anything outside of that covenant is a sin. Parents have the primary responsibility before God to train and raise their children.
